Civil Service Commission Data Breach Allegedly Sold on Dark Web
A post on a dark web forum has surfaced claiming to sell data belonging to the Civil Service Commission (CSC) of the Philippines. The advertisement, published by a forum member using the alias “888,” states that the breach involves records of 76,718 unique individuals.
The Civil Service Commission serves as the central personnel agency of the Philippine government, mandated to manage policies, plans, and programs for civil service employees. According to details in the forum post, the dataset being offered for sale allegedly contains enrollee identification numbers, full names, email addresses, employment status, sex, job positions and levels, agency or office names, contact numbers, sectors, nature of employment, and descriptions of roles within the organization.
The sale of such information on underground markets could expose government personnel to risks ranging from identity theft to targeted cyberattacks, given the level of personal and professional detail involved. The incident highlights the growing trend of Philippine government-related data appearing in dark web marketplaces.
As of this publication, the Civil Service Commission has not yet issued a statement regarding the alleged incident. This is a developing story.
