PSA Central Luzon Website Defaced by Hacker Group ‘NULLSEC Philippines’

A webpage under the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region III – Central Luzon was defaced by a group calling itself “NULLSEC Philippines,” displaying a manifesto condemning corruption in the country and calling on Filipinos to “pull back the curtain” on government wrongdoing. The defaced page, titled “HACKED BY NULLSEC PHILIPPINES!!!", replaced official PSA content with a lengthy statement under the banner #PunishTheInjustice. According to the defaced page, the incident occurred around October 3. The affected page was hosted under rsso03.psa.gov.ph, an online portal of the PSA’s Central Luzon regional office. In their message, the attackers described corruption as the nation’s “shadow,” lamenting how stolen public funds deprive ordinary Filipinos of a fair chance at life. > “Every peso lost to corruption is a peso stolen from ordinary Filipinos who simply want a fair chance at life,” the statement read. “It is time to wake up. To open our eyes and see that corruption is not an untouchable monster.” The group accused public officials of hiding “behind smiling faces and dark room deals” and called for collective accountability and civic awareness. They urged citizens to join their Telegram channel and to support good governance through hashtags such as #StopCorruption, #WeFightForGoodGovernance, and #DepensahanAngPeraNgBayan. The defacement appeared to be an act of hacktivism — a form of digital protest where hackers take over websites to voice social or political statements. In this case, NULLSEC Philippines used the PSA Central Luzon site as a platform to broadcast its message about corruption and government accountability. As of this writing, the Philippine Statistics Authority has not issued any public statement regarding the incident. Despite the intrusion, there is currently no evidence of data theft or exposure of personal information from the PSA’s databases. The compromise appears to have been limited to web content defacement.
