Julius Gorospe Appointed as New DICT Undersecretary for Cybersecurity
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has announced the appointment of Julius Gorospe as its new Undersecretary for Cybersecurity following his designation by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Gorospe officially took his oath of office on February 2, 2026, and will now oversee the country’s cybersecurity initiatives as more government services, businesses, schools, and daily transactions continue to move online.
With extensive international experience, Gorospe has worked in the United States and other countries. He holds advanced degrees in Technology Management from the Wharton School, National Security Administration from the National Defense College of the Philippines, and Computer Science, giving him both technical and strategic grounding in cybersecurity.
He said his priority is to build on existing programs aligned with the National Cybersecurity Plan and further strengthen the country’s cyber defenses to protect citizens, institutions, and the economy from growing digital threats.
Gorospe also expressed support for the DICT’s Digital Bayanihan approach under Secretary Henry Aguda, emphasizing cooperation among government, the private sector, academia, and the public as key to effective cybersecurity.
He stressed that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility and encouraged greater public awareness to prevent cybercrime, while calling on Filipino cybersecurity professionals, both local and overseas, to help strengthen the country’s digital security capabilities.
